What qualifies me to teach you about what you should add to your teaching when it comes to children? First, as a veteran police officer, I had to arrest child molesters, abusers, and bullies. I’ve also had to search for missing children, take children out of unsafe environments, and even take many juveniles into custody for crimes. I was a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) officer for 2 years, which is an international program developed by the Los Angeles Police Department for children to resist drugs, alcohol, tobacco, gangs, and peer pressure. I’ve been in a lot of private and public classrooms; from pre-school to high school, and I know what situational awareness and self-defense training is appropriate for each age category.
Children’s Survival will not only provide you with a lot of new teaching material for your young students, but I’ll also teach you how to get the parents more involved in their children’s training, who will in turn be your biggest advertisers by word of mouth.
Yes, teaching children how to survive a school shooting will be a part of the training, which is the biggest fear of parents, but again, it will be all age appropriate – a grade school child is not going to do a door ambush against an active shooter, but they certainly can learn various escape methods and how to hide. It’s my extensive tactical and teaching background that will save you from the pitfalls, liabilities, and wasting time if you had to learn it all on your own.
