New Jim Wagner Knives Jim Wagner
When I designed my first knife for German knife manufacturer Boker the president of the company, Carsten Felix, said, “Your first knife was a home run.” Ever since then I have been designing new editions to the series.
While I was teaching my Reality-Based Personal Protection Level 2 courses my newest knife was released for the European market. It was my Jim Wagner Reality Based Blade fixed version with a sturdy nylon fiber sheath. This knife is a tactical knife that feels good in the hand, is perfectly balanced, razor sharp, a point that can penetrate just about anything, and is shorter than most combat knives for better close contact control.

The 440C stainless steel blade has an overwhelming strength of 6 mm, in the typical RBB Gladius tip style. It is the first fixed blade knife with an interchangeable glass breaker. The overall length is 9 ¾” with a blade length of 5 ¼”
The sheath has a new patent pending release trigger that pops the blade free. This feature was placed there because too many other fixed blades rely on just a pull because the knife is kept there by friction. However, my knife has some weight behind it, 8.9 oz to be exact, and a typical holster would not hold it in place during rigorous tactical use such as rappelling, parachuting, or going over walls. This sheath keeps the knife secure until needed. The sheath can be used with a large Tek Lok for attachment to any tactical gear.
The retail price in the United States is $149.00 and I will be offering it soon on my website once the first shipment hits the shores.
While I was in Solingen, Germany I had the opportunity to see the prototype of my Reality-Based Blade Urban. This knife is the size of a writing pen with a 3 centimeter folding blade that is as sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel. This knife is for those who must carry a very light and small blade: undercover operations, a back-up blade, during sporting activities, etc. This blade is also perfect for business suits and for women’s purses or small wallets.
This weapon is used just like a pen. With a fist grip point up the palm push method is used, and with the fist grip point down method the thumb is placed on the back of the weapon to prevent slippage.

According to Boker president Carsten Felix this knife is “already a homerun” with a large number of pre-order sales. These are people buying the knife before it is even made and is listed in the catalog as such.
The Jim Wagner Reality-Based Blade Urban will not be on the market until the beginning of 2009, although the company is trying hard to get it out before Christmas.
As a result of the huge success of my series Boker has me working on four new projects. When they come out you’ll be the first to know about them.
