I began teaching self-defense professionally to civilians in 1986. From 1991 to 2002 I taught exclusively law enforcement agencies, military units, and correctional institutions. I admit, I had the "us verses them" mentality back then. On January 21, 2003 I created the Jim Wagner Reality-Based Personal Protection system for civilians, and I have been teaching it ever since.
